Public Relations 2 is a core subject taught throughout our semester 5 under the Communication and Media Management course. Public Relations 2 comprises of theories and principles that are applied throughout various situations of public relations. This subject provides extensive scenarios and examples of past events of situations depicting different issues. Most importantly this subject teaches student who are interested in the public relations field the importance of critical thinking, creative thinking and theoretical thinking. These methods of thinking are vital as a public relation practitioner because we are also thought that most issues happen when the least expected therefore the ability to think on our feet and react quickly is incorporated.

The elements learnt were concise and comprehensive considering a wide range of topics were covered throughout the semester. The element of problem solving was emphasized and also the art of persuasion. These two elements where emphasized through topics such as Language of Public Relations, Creative and Strategic Management, and Issue Management. Public Relations 2 has also provided a good foundation for students to incorporate group working skills because it develops the element of critical thinking on a different level. This time students were exposed to a different platform of working on an assignment and this exposure adds other elements such as the importance of team work when creating an event because in reality an event cannot be done individually.
